If you came all the way to Korea thinking about SMILE surgery, but after the examination you are told, “Your cornea is too thin, so it would be better to consider ICL,” you may be taken aback.
 

However, rather than the surgery you want, it is more important to choose the procedure that is suitable for your current eye condition.
 

SMILE corrects myopia and astigmatism by removing a lenticule from inside the cornea, so the more severe the myopia, the more the amount of corneal tissue needed for correction must also be considered.

So if you were recommended ICL after the examination, rather than thinking that SMILE is no longer possible, it is better to understand it as part of the process of finding the vision correction method that best suits your eye condition.
