If the bridge looks low from the side, or if the tip feels blunt in photos, you may start looking into rhinoplasty. Some people want only a slightly higher bridge, while others are bothered by the tip drooping downward when they smile.
But the nose is a single shape formed by the bridge and tip together. Changing just one part can make the whole face look different, so it is best to look at both from the beginning.
Frontal width and side-profile height are different
Even the concern about a low bridge differs from person to person once you look closely. What needs attention may vary depending on whether the area between the eyes looks flat, the middle of the nose looks wide, or it feels low compared with the tip. It helps to explain the parts that bother you in both the front view and the side view.
The height of the nose is also seen in relation to the forehead, lips, and chin. A height that looks natural on someone else may not feel the same on your face. Because photos can make the nose look different depending on distance and angle, consultations check the actual shape of the bone and cartilage, as well as skin thickness, along with photos.
The tip is assessed together with the skin and cartilage
The shape and position of the cartilage, along with skin thickness, all affect why the nasal tip may appear rounded. If the skin is thick, refining the inner structure may not show through as much as expected, and if the skin is thin, small irregularities or the outline of the materials used may show through.
The nasal tip is shaped by adjusting the existing cartilage or, if needed, adding cartilage. If cartilage from inside the nose, the ear, or the rib is used, you should also be aware of possible scarring and pain at the donor site. There is no single best material for everyone, and the method is chosen within the range that the current nasal structure and skin can support.
Please also mention nasal congestion during shape consultation
It is also important to say whether one nostril often feels blocked, whether you breathe through your mouth, or whether you have ever injured your nose. The appearance of the nose and the airway affect each other. Nasal congestion can be caused not only by a deviated internal wall but also by various factors such as allergies or the condition of the mucosa, so rhinoplasty alone does not solve all nasal congestion.
If you have previously had filler, thread procedures, or nose surgery, please also let us know when and what material was used. If the tissue has changed due to earlier treatment, additional points may need to be checked.
The tip needs to be observed even after the swelling goes down
After surgery, swelling, bruising, and pain may occur, and the inside of the nose may feel stuffy. The speed at which swelling goes down in the bridge and tip can also differ, so even after the initial swelling subsides, the tip is monitored over time. If redness worsens or the skin color changes, you should inform the hospital immediately.
After rhinoplasty, bleeding, infection, asymmetry, scarring, changes in sensation, and breathing discomfort may occur, and results and recovery vary from person to person. Please make your decision after sufficient consultation with the medical staff.
